Thank You To My Bride

I would love to go back in time 42 years ago today. I would want to be in the parking lot of South Grandville C R Church at around 4:00 that afternoon.

I’d be waiting for a skinny 19 year old kid to get out of his parents car, carrying a white tuxedo. I would walk up to him, shake his hand (he would have freaked out if I'd given him a good old Pentecostal hug back then) and say; “You are making the best decision of your life today”. He probably would have looked at me funny and said “Yea. I know, I’m getting married today”; to which I would have responded with a smile. “You have no idea, my friend”.

It’s been 38 years, and that graying haired, slightly overweight guy I met in the parking lot at South Grandville CR Church was right, I couldn’t have written a better history of my life with Cheryl Heuker if I had tried. Funny thing, that guy also said to me as he was turning to walk away “and don’t be so selfish”; He was right about that too, my only regret.

Thank you, thank you my Bride for 44½ years (2 ½ of dating).
