To give fertilizer to plants like Roses, Rhododendrons, evergreens, and so on now would encourage new growth that will not be “winter ready”. There just isn’t enough time for them to become the hardy twigs and branches that can take our kind of winters. Any new growth now will be way too tender, and it would just freeze and die.
So guess
who gets to take that long winter’s nap on an empty tummy now? Yeah, remember
Mom; remember her telling you about all those starving little plants in China,
huh, remember?
